Born in Hartford, Wisconsin (that's in the cow country between Milwaukee and Madison), I went to college at the University of Dallas in Texas, then moved to Boston, MA to work as a neighborhood reporter.
I loved the architecture and the public transit system in Boston, but the rent was killing me, so when some friends offered me a place in New Orleans in 2001, I couldn't say no. I immediately fell in love with the history and fabric of the neighborhoods, and in 2002, I started a neighborhood paper for the Bywater and Marigny neighborhoods called The Bywater Marigny Current.
I ran that for two years with a partner Frances Dugas, while I
got started in real estate. As my real estate career kept me more
and more busy, I left the Current to my partner and devoted myself
full time to selling homes in New Orleans, although I do still
hone my writing skills on my online
blog about New Orleans real estate (link to word press blog)
and working on short stories and other pieces of fiction.
I love urban neighborhoods and like seeing adaptive reuse of old structures. I feel like this is a great way to keep our downtown lively while at the same time cutting down on suburban sprawl, so I mainly work within the city limits of New Orleans which includes Bywater, Marigny, the French Quarter, Uptown, Irish Channel, Holy Cross, MidCity, Gentilly, Lakefront and Algiers Point.
I live in Bywater with my husband Joseph
Meissner, and I'm very active in our neighborhood association
serving as a board member, then board president, and now general
member. From neighborhood clean ups to summer socials, I believe
you have to stay involved if you want your neighborhood to be
vibrant.
I've owned both residential and commercial property in New Orleans
and I've had personal experience buying and selling my own homes,
so I can understand what people go through. If you or a friend
is ready to make a move, we can help. Give
us a call.
