The Louisiana Recovery Authority is offering a free handbook to help make sure the wave of new construction coming in the Gulf Coast blends in with our existing housing stock.

The 92-page manual, “Louisiana Speaks: Pattern Book,” contains drawings, photographs and advice on how to rebuild in areas like New Orleans where some of our greatest assets are our architecture.

The guide is available at Lowe’s Home Improvement centers in the greater New Orleans area, or online at www.louisianaspeaks.org.

The book contains a wealth of pictures that home owners can show to builders to give them a sense of what they want their homes to look like. It also discusses styles and details that have a south Louisiana look and will blend in easily with surrounding structures.
